EFCC Recovers N30 Billion, from Betta Edu : Investigates 50 Bank Accounts 

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced significant progress in its investigation of Betta Edu, the suspended minister of humanitarian affairs, revealing that it has recovered N30 billion thus far.

Following President Bola Tinubu's directive on January 8 to investigate all financial transactions related to Edu's ministry, the EFCC embarked on a thorough examination of the matter, leading to the suspension of social investment programs such as the N-Power program, conditional cash transfer program, government enterprise and empowerment program, and homegrown school feeding program.

In a recent bulletin titled "EFCC Alert," the commission disclosed that it is currently scrutinizing 50 bank accounts linked to the suspended minister, with the recovered N30 billion deposited into the federal government's coffers.

Ola Olukoyede, chairman of the EFCC, assured Nigerians of the commission's commitment to upholding the rule of law and combating corruption. He emphasized the importance of conducting thorough investigations, acknowledging that the process may take time but is necessary for justice to prevail.

While acknowledging the public's desire for swift action, Olukoyede emphasized the importance of following due process to ensure that justice is served. He reassured Nigerians that the EFCC is dedicated to uncovering the truth and holding those responsible for corruption accountable.
