Veteran Actor Amaechi Muonagor Succumbs to Kidney Disease

The Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, mourns yet another loss as veteran actor Amaechi Muonagor tragically passes away at the age of 61 after a prolonged battle with kidney disease.

Known for his memorable and comedic roles in movies, Muonagor breathed his last in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

In 2023, he suffered a debilitating stroke that resulted in partial paralysis of his left leg. Despite undergoing weekly dialysis and physiotherapy to address the effects of the stroke, Muonagor's health continued to decline.

Just a few days ago, a heart-wrenching video surfaced online, showing Muonagor appealing for financial assistance from well-meaning Nigerians to undergo a kidney transplant. Tragically, his fight came to an end.

The devastating news of Muonagor's passing was confirmed by a family source on the evening of Sunday, March 24, 2024.

Media personality Morris Monye also took to the microblogging platform, X, to express his sorrow over the loss, describing Muonagor as a talented actor whose presence on screen was truly captivating. Monye recounted how they had watched with concern as Muonagor battled his health issues, offering support to help him seek treatment in India.

He Tweeted :

Muonagor's demise comes only a few weeks after the untimely deaths of his colleagues, Mr. Ibu and Sisi Quadri.
